Frankie: Up Close and Personal

Frankie has several health issues and those, combined with his emotional state, are the reasons we made the decision that he needed to become a permanent member of our family. His actual age is unknown, but doctors agree that he is likely 15 or 16 years … it’s really quite apparent.

Currently, Frankie is being treated for pulmonary hypertension, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, hypothyroidism, seizures and, not surprisingly, arthritis. But the great news is that he is doing great and has responded well to all medications and treatment! He is consistently eating well for the first time since we rescued him nearly 4 months ago, and we’re sure that is because he no longer suffers from mouth pain. So … we’re happy to report that Frankie is very comfortable and happy!

Frankie’s mental state is such that he requires more attention than any dog we’ve ever had. He barks, cries, whines, moans and groans for any and every reason – anytime, day or night. We jump, of course! He’s a tough little guy, but also very needy.

So, to make a long story short, the reality is that Frankie isn’t going to be around forever … and while we know there are amazing people who could give him the same love and care we do, we couldn’t expect him to endure the stress of adjusting and adapting to a new home at this point in his life. He has come to love and trust us, and the importance of that in his wellbeing is something we take quite seriously.

And of course, we love Mr. Cranky Frankie Long-Legs Taylor dearly!

We are grateful for everyone’s love and support as we embarked upon this journey with Frankie – the first (official) member of Harley’s House of Dreams. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we know Frankie is grateful, too.

Love,
Dan & Rudi
