Awareness   >   Education   >   Advocacy   = CHANGE

Harley’s Dream was established in 2016 to create awareness and educate the public about the cruel commercial dog breeding industry, also known as puppy mills. We believe that a grassroots approach by large groups of concerned citizens is the most effective way to bring about change. Inspired by Harley, a tiny crippled puppy mill survivor who became the American Humane Association’s Hero Dog of 2015, our focus is to encourage advocacy by providing the tools necessary to educate children and adults alike.

To accomplish this mission, Harley’s Dream has three primary Programs aimed at raising public awareness about the issues, educating about the realities of the puppy mill industry, and advocating for improved canine welfare legislation – with the ultimate goal of shutting down this horrible industry.

Our programs are supported and driven by Harley’s Heroes Teams. These teams are comprised of hundreds of passionate and dedicated volunteer supporters that are mobilized around the world with the mission of ‘Advocacy through Education’ to spread awareness and effect change in their communities. Harley’s Heroes educate the public in many ways, but primarily through events, peaceful protests, and helping to influence their local legislators. Harley’s Heroes are provided the tools, education, and supplies to spark conversation about puppy mills.

Harley’s Dream Impact Goals

  • An Informed and educated public won’t buy puppy mill puppies or support businesses that sell puppies.
  • An informed public and mobilized supporters will seek and drive improved canine welfare legislation.
  • The reduced demand and supply pressure will cause a reduction in pet stores that sell puppy mill dogs.
  • Reduced demand will eliminate the need for puppy mills.
