Squeek – Harley’s K9 Hero Spotlight

Hi, Squeek! Congratulations on being honored as one of Harley’s K9 Heroes. Which team are you involved with?
Thank you! I belong to the Harley’s Heroes Phoenix team.

Tell us a little about your background?
I am a Maltese, around 10 years old, I have two sisters,  Pink (Bichon mix) and Penny (Chihuahua), 1 brother named Marley (German Shepherd mix) and a foster-brother named Peter (terrier mix). I am a puppy mill survivor and my siblings have all been rescued.

Why did you become a Harley’s K9 Hero?
I became a Harley Hero because I would like to help spread awareness of all the breeding dogs still living in the puppy mills.

What are your favorite Harley’s Heroes events to work at and why?
I think my favorite events to go to are the protests. I love to be outside with my Mom – she’s also a Harley’s Hero!

What is your job during an event and what do you like most about it?
My job is to wear my Harley’s Dream t-shirt and bandana and look cute. I also spin sometimes and Mom always points that out!

What motivates, inspires you in the fight against puppy mills? Do you have a hero of your own?
My motivation is when new people ask about me and Mom and I can educate them with the hope that they will educate others. Besides my Mom, my hero would be my foster-mom, Sharon Wilson. She has adopted and fostered so many dogs and quite a few are mill survivors. She is a rockstar!

Do you have a message of hope for the breeding dogs still living in puppy mills?
Do not to give up hope! I was rescued and found a loving home and, with so many organizations rescuing mill dogs, there is hope that they, too, will find a forever home.

Tell us about your human!
My Mom loves to protest and wear all her Harley shirts and will tell anyone that will listen about puppy mills. She spoils me rotten and loves to take me to all the dog events!

What’s the craziest thing your human does with you?
The craziest thing my Mom does is taking Snapchat pictures of me with crazy filters. It’s soooo annoying!

When you’re not busy being a Harley’s K9 Hero, what’s your favorite pastime? Favorite treat?
My favorite pastime is napping and going for car rides. I love spaghetti!

Tell us something both serious and silly about you!
I frequently snap when I am sleeping or touched from behind, Mom thinks its PTSD. Something silly I do is when Mom puts me on the grass I run as fast as I can in a big arch to get off the grass. I don’t walk in straight lines.

Do you have any nicknames?
Spinnerama, Squeeky Dee and Seguoia Bejoya. Sequoia is my given name.

Can you offer any words of advice for dogs that would like to become a Harley’s K9 Hero?
If you are a mill survivor (or even a rescue dog) get your mom or dad to start bringing you to events (only if it doesn’t stress you out) or start a Facebook page or Instagram account. People LOVE looking at dogs online!

  1. What an absolutely gorgeous bundle of joy Squeak is – especially for her age. A real little livewire. Looking forward to getting to know you better on social media. You’re such a brave girl to put aside your PTSD and get out there to fight for all the other doggies who haven’t got their freedom yet and very importantly the closure of all puppy mills. So thankful that you have your freedom and such a wonderful furever life with your Mom.

  2. Squeek thanks for all you do to help stop puppy mills, and get people to adopt and not shop.

  3. I am so glad this precious dog has such a marvelous Mom. Such a cutie!
