In Memory of Fernando

I share this photo because it was the last taken of Fernando and I together,  just one hour before we let him go.

It was one year ago today that Fernando left us for the rainbow bridge. And still, a year later, it’s impossible for me to talk about him without tears. Fernando helped heal my heart after losing Harley and I helped heal his after a past of pain and torture. We were both so afraid to love again, and he kept his distance and tough exterior for a bit, but soon he realized he needed me and I needed him. He was in my life for only 16 months but despite the painful loss, I’m forever grateful for my time with this special little guy. – Rudi ❤️

  1. Yes, he will be forever in all our hearts, but especially yours Rudi. <3

  2. I miss Fernando too. I had adopted a 17 y/o chow who was tied to a tree his entire life in hot and freezing weather. I too only had him a short time. He died one year later but never was restrained again. It still hurts. I can’t understand how humans can hurt animals. God Bless Fernando.

  3. Still miss that little guy and how much joy he brought all of us after losing Harley.

  4. Oh, sweet Fernando. We weep with you, Rudi and Dan. Such a unique soul who touched so very many lives. I choose to believe he and Harley are together, helping to provide you inspiration from beyond. He matters, And he will never be forgotten.

  5. I can see the pain on your face Rudi. It doesn’t get easier does it? I lost 3 of my ex-breeding girlies last year so I feel your pain 🌟💙🌟 xxx

  18. Hi Rudi,

Every precious extra moment of love we can give them and extend their opportunity to live is a blessing to both.. regardless if it is 25 minutes or 16 months or more. It is a privilege from my perspective. I have done so and feel blessed to be designated to do so. I bet you feel the same way .

Fernando and Harley are best buds in Heaven no doubt and are connected to your spirit. Thank you for all you and Dan do to help animals. xx

  20. These are such beautiful pictures Rudi – Thank you so much for sharing with us. He made me smile every time you posted is pictures. I loved his little face. God Bless you for all that you do for them and for making everyone aware of Puppy Mills. It was because of Harley that I found out about them and continue to get people to adopt and not shop for their dogs. Happy Holidays. Sending you lots of love today.

  21. ABsolutely beautiful words and beautiful photos. The words made me cry, but the photos brought me smiles. Thank you.

  22. Your love for sweet Fernando is so precious and pure in this picture. I believe dogs live for this moment in time and I’m sure all of the horrible years that Fernando suffered were erased when he arrived into your loving and caring home. Fernando knew he was so loved and treasured with you and his time with you was the best of his life. I hope he is running free at the Rainbow Bridge. He will always be remembered by all of us. Much love to you and your family.

  23. Fernando was a funny little fellow with a heart bigger than he was. All that love in his little body. I’m so glad he got to spend his last days with the family who raised a puppy like Harley. He came to know what love really was.

  24. I miss Fernando very much. He gave love & stayed in our hearts the moment we saw him. I’m sorry he’s gone. Fernando & Harley are at Rainbow Bridge together playing., Healthy again.
