Because puppy mills are legal and supported by many large corporations and dog registry groups, it will take huge numbers of concerned and dedicated citizens, and a tremendous amount of persistence to bring about change. But it can be done. We can make a difference.

1. Join our puppy mill awareness project
We invite you to join in Harley’s “Puppy Mill Action and Awareness Project” … become one of Harley’s Heroes and be part of Harley’s Dream. Click here to learn more about this great campaign.

2. Please, write your lawmakers!
Putting an end to puppy mills starts with YOU. Beginning at the most local level of government, you have the ability to spread the message about puppy mills, and raise awareness with those who have the power to create laws. Learn how to contact them at this link.

3. Educate yourself
Learn all you can about puppy mills so you can educate your family and friends. Information can be found here.

4. Adopt, Don’t Shop!
Never purchase a puppy from a pet store or online, and never patronize a store that sells puppies. If you really must purchase a puppy, please check every shelter and rescue in your area first, as they often have puppies. As a last resort, purchase from a responsible and reputable breeder; make sure you can visit and see where the puppy was born and meet its mom. That way you will know it is not coming from a puppy mill. If they balk at your coming to their kennel, or if they suggest a meeting somewhere else, chances are they have something to hide and are a puppy mill!

5. SHARE!
Help spread the word about puppy mills by sharing and posting on social media. Be sure to follow Harley on Facebook and share his posts. Other informative anti-puppy mill Facebook pages can be found here.

  1. There are several links in this e-mail that aren’t working when I try to click on them to read more info on puppy mills & how to contact government officials, etc.

  2. Everyday I try to do something that would make Harley smile. We can all do little things that when amassed will end up as an undeniable, unavoidable truth.

  3. i’ve shared this post – I wish there was one easy answer and #HarleysDream would come true – it will take all of us working together to stop puppy mills
