Thank you from Harley’s Mom

I have tried repeatedly to put into words the depth of our gratitude to the hundreds of people who came to Harley’s Celebration of Life. Honestly, there are no adequate words. I was so overwhelmed with emotion when it began that I couldn’t hold back the tears. And for once, the tears came not because I miss him so, but because I was feeling the great love that everyone there had for him.

Thank you for loving Harley so much that you came to honor him and to celebrate his life. And to those who wanted to come but simply couldn’t, I know how much you loved him … we felt your love there with us that night.

Thanks to all of you for your support over the years, for sharing Harley’s mission, and for continuing his legacy. I’ll never understand why I was the one chosen to be Harley’s voice, but I am so thankful that I was. Until the day comes when I finally see him again, I will continue to speak for him and the countless dogs in puppy mills who are still waiting to be free, and those who never had the chance.

I love you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
~ Rudi (Harley’s mom)

  1. Oh how I wish I could have been there. Please consider making this an annual tradition. Perhaps the ones who could not make it this year can in the future. Thank you for loving Harley the way you did and still do. <3

  2. Harley means so much to so many people. I would have loved to have been at his celebration. People can’t understand how I could cry over a dog that I never even met, everyone there would have understood. Harley was so special. Thank you Rudi and Dan for saving him, and so many other puppy mill dogs.

  3. We loved/love him! He continues, thru you, to teach many about the horrible conditions in puppy mills-his face is the face of the abused, tortured, forgotten, and unloved- thank YOU and sweet HARLEY for opening the eyes and hearts of those who never knew the horrors.

  4. Dear Rudi,
It is equally impossible to find the words to respond to your beautiful loving words except to say we love you and Dan. And thank you to you both for letting all of us love Harley and educating us about Puppy Mills. ❤️

  5. Rudi, you and Dan were chosen to be Harley’s parents. Nobody else could have accomplished what you did representing Harley and the plight of puppy mills. No other people could have taken such wonderful care of Harley for him to live well beyond expectations. And nobody else could have loved him more! You made us all fall in love with him and your family. So, thank you for sharing him and his story with all of us. We are all better people because of it! ❤️

  6. Rudi, thank you for being the voice of one special little fellow! I fell in love with Harley the first time I saw him and new he was destin for good things! He far exceeded the limits a little Hero could ever go and to still have his life and legacy alive is nothing but …Special! I followed Harley from the beginning and am thankful to you, his mom, to allow me into his life and follow his journey to the end! I will forever be grateful to have shared his little life with so many and will continue to do so!! Harley is in my heart and will always be!! God Bless you and Dan for sharing Harley with the World!! #HarleysDream❤️

  7. So much love and feelings coming to you for this wonderful post, Rudi. I hope it’s okay with you, but I want to share this on my Jasper’s page on facebook. I’m trying to have him share the message against Puppy Mills for Harley, too. This is Jasper’s page there: https://www.facebook.com/Jaspermyhero/ We loved Harley and I was one who couldn’t attend, but loved Harley so much. God sure intended for you to be Harley’s voice and those of us who loved him will continue to remember him and pass on the fight against Puppy Mills and Farms. Thank you so much.

  8. Ty for sharing Harley with me and the rest of the world. He was a special little boy. He educated me about puppy mills. I never knew how horrible a place could be for our precious animals that r gifts from God. Xoxoxo

  9. I so would have loved to be there but South Africa is a bit far.
I followed Harley when he was with us and I follow all his post now.
One day I hope to visit.
    All my love!

  10. Thank you so much for the note Rudi. And for loving Harley and being his “voice” He will always be thought of, remembered, and loved. I would say missed also, but, in a way, he is still “here” and always will be for all of us.

  11. Dear Rudi,

It is not for you to thank us for being part of Harley’s life–WE thank YOU for allowing us to share! We are all better people for the intimacy of love, laughter, joy, sorrow and tears. So many of us are gentler, more sensitive people for knowing Harley and all of his family– fur and human alike! Your family has known both tremendous joy and heart wrenching sorrow since we “met”. I like to think Harley’s followers have shared the good times and been a comfort through the losses. And we not only love Harley, we love you, Dan, Michelle, Teresa, all the kids and grand kids as well! Thank you so much for that!

I never made it back to Berthoud for Hops and Harley. I had made arrangements to adopt from NMDR and went to pick up Clarence, my new family member, at noon Saturday. By the time I had him, we would have made it to Berthoud at about 4:15!! And I think poor Clarence was already overwhelmed! Best for him that we didn’t come, but I’m sorry I had to miss it. Berthoud is a long ways from Kanab, but I will make the trip next year if Hops goes on again in Harley’s honor.

Knowing you has enriched my life! Thank you sweet friend!

  17. Thank you for being Harley ‘s voice and for loving him and rescuing him and all the countless others.

I wish I lived closer so I could have come. My little girl was rescued from a puppy mill 3 years ago and I am so lucky to have her. She is now 13 and the love of my life.

The one thing that broke my heart when I got her was she did not know how to play. WHEN THE OTHERWISE Dogs Tried To GET to play, she thought they were attacking her.
